Cupcakes

These papers and stickers are from the Creative Memories "Cheerful Birthday" collection.  I was attracted to the bright colours and contemporary designs.  The cupcake square is pop-dotted over an embossed square, giving the card some dimension.  Do you like working with bright colours or do you prefer more muted colours?

  1. I've always used more earth tones but having grandkids has brightened.up my color choices. Cute card...I am so linear I would have had to line the left side of the bottom square up with the left side of the b'day greeting (probably the light patterned paper rather than the dark mat since the b'day greeting is light background. The square on the right would then have had to be the same distance from the right edge. I use a quilting tool to measure all the time...can't make cards or scrapbook without it. I have a pretty good eye but am too picky to go by eye.

  2. Thank you for your comments Beth. Guess I should have looked at the photo before posting it. For whatever reason, the background paper looks much darker than it is in real life. The birthday sentiment is pop-dotted as well, which doesn't show very clearly here. I used to measure everything but stopped with the 1/8 and 1/4 inch spots because I was driving myself crazy when it was just a wee bit off. I do measure when I want things to be exactly the same size (squares) but usually eye distances when laying things out. Isn't it great that we all enjoy our craft in our own sweet way :-)
